MNREGA implementation in full swing in Chhattisgarh, Half of the target for the year achieved in the first trimester

Employment of 6.65 crore person-days generated so far in the current financial year, 21 districts of the state have generated more employment than the given target

More than 39.34 lakh labourers of nearly 22 lakh families have been provided employment

Raipur, 9 July 2021Maximum number of people have been provided employment under MNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) in Chhattisgarh. In the first three months of the current financial year 2021-22, almost half of the year’s target has been completed. Against the employment target of 13 crore 50 lakh person-days approved by Government of India for Chhattisgarh this year, a total of six crore 65 lakh 13 thousand person-days of employment has been created in April, May and June. This is 49.27 per cent of the target for the whole year. In 21 districts of the state, more employment has been provided than the given target for the period April to June. Against the target of six crore 21 lakh 94 thousand person-days fixed for the first quarter, employment of six crore 65 lakh 13 thousand person-days has been created in the entire state, which is about 107 percent of the target. Chhattisgarh ranks sixth in the country in terms of completion of work against the target approved under MNREGA at the national-level.Despite the adverse circumstances due to COVID crisis, people in rural areas have been provided continuous employment in the state. In the first trimester of the current financial year, around 39 lakh 34 thousand 242 labourers of 22 lakh families have been provided employment; 20 lakh 7 thousand i.e. 50% of these labourers are women. Meanwhile, employment of three crore 36 lakh 66 thousand person-days out of total 6 crores 65 lakh 13 thousand person-days have been created by women labourers, which is 50.62 per cent of the total employment created.In the first quarter of the year 2021-22, maximum employment of 71 lakh one thousand person-days has been provided in Rajnandgaon district. Meanwhile, employment of 60 lakh 57 thousand person-days has been generated in Kabirdham district, 47 lakh 29 thousand in Balodabazar-Bhatapara, 34 lakh 94 thousand in Mahasamund, 32 lakh 48 thousand in Raigarh, 30 lakh 94 thousand in Bilaspur, 30 lakh 78 thousand in Dhamtari, 29 lakh 33 thousand in Janjgir-Champa, 27 lakh 66 thousand in Mungeli, 24 lakh 53 thousand in Gariaband, 24 lakh 17 thousand in Koriya, 23 lakh 33 thousand in Balod, 20 lakh 76 thousand in Raipur and employment of 20 lakh 38 thousand person-days has been provided in Jashpur.Under MNREGA, in the months of April, May and June this year, employment of total 19 lakh 40 thousand person-days has been created in Kanker district, 18 lakh 56 thousand person-days in Balrampur-Ramanujanj, 17 lakh 48 thousand in Bemetara, 16 lakh 79 thousand in Surajpur, 15 lakh four thousand in Korba 14 lakh 55 thousand in Sukma, 14 lakh 17 thousand in Surguja, 13 lakh 58 thousand in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, 13 lakh 46 thousand in Durg, 12 lakh 54 thousand in Kondagaon, 11 lakh 63 thousand in Bijapur, nine lakh 89 thousand in Bastar, seven lakh 27 thousand in Dantewada and employment of two lakh 59 thousand person-days have been given in Narayanpur.
